Poets on the unseen poetry list

The second part of the English literature GCSE exam this year requires students to repond to an unseen poem.  The unseen poet will come from the list below.  A student was revising for the exam in the library this week when we realised that we did not have an anthology or collection on the list and in response to this I decided to make a list of poetry by the named poets which is available for free online.  A large number of the poems (along with poet biographies) are on through Poetry Foundation which is available as a free app.

It is not a comprehensive list but will give students an overview of the poet's work.

Online Book Lists

I am now using Goodreads website to share library book lists. Goodreads is a social media site which allows users to share what they are reading, discuss books, follow favourite authors, create book lists and create a reading goal for the year.  It can also recommend books to you!

You can sign up with your email address.  For more information on how to use the website, have a  look at this Goodreads tutorial.

However you do not have to be a member of Goodreads to access Highlands book lists.  To have a look at them, click the links below.  If you want to find out more about a book click the title and a review and a rating ,by other readers will pop up.  Goodreads is a great place to choose your next book.  (The titles mentioned bekow are all available to borrow and reserve at Highlands LRC)

Year 7 Reading list  (149 books!)

Year 8 Reading list  (190 books!)

Year 9 Reading list   (75 books!)

If you can't find something you would like to read there are some other book lists available on our library's Goodreads profile and thousands of different lists are available under Listopia.

World Book Night took place this week.  Every year they give out a range of inspring titles.  I have also made a Goodreads list for these books, some are available at the school library and otehers will be available at Enfield libraries.  These are perfect for older readers Year 10+ , school staff and parents.
