Highlands LRC for dyslexic & reluctant readers Part 2
Resources and handouts from the presentation today;
Videos about dyslexia
Books for Dyslexics @ Highlands LRC
I am also creating book lists using the reading website Goodreads which include summaries of the books and which will be updated regularly. Why not ask your child to pick a book that they are interested in from the list and borrow it from the school library?
General dyslexic book list
Dyslexic books for girls
(Plenty of books on the general list ar esuitable for girls but I often find that girls studying at KS3 level have different tastes to boys and htis list was compiled with that in mind.)
List of book apps which may encourage reluctant readers in a way that traditional print can't.

"Maybe the reference book was never the right format for non-linear information.." Brain Dettmar, really interesting idea. I'm never quite sure what to do with old reference books in the library and this video gives me ideas for how we could use them at Highlands.
